Artworks from the Heart, a creativity and conversation group made up of Rosehedge/Multifaith Works clients, volunteers and supporters, meets at 1:00 every other Thursday at in the Gwen Bieghle Room at the main office. Beginning with a short, silent meditation, the group explores a wide variety of media to create, express and play while enjoying fun, food and wide-ranging discussions. Facilitated by Trudy James, Heartwork Consultant and former CareTeam Program Director.
We've been meeting continuously for about four years--people living with AIDS in our houses, or on their own, plus volunteers. We meet every other week--no talent required. It's about playing with various media, and about conversation and socialization. Last year we designed and executed a bus shelter honoring Rosehedge/Multifaith Works. It's located at the corner of 15th and John, across from the Safeway. We made a wreath for the office door last year. We've done every kind of medium you can imagine: prayer flags for all the houses, collage, watercolor, jewelry, ikebana, greeting cards, rock art, mosaics, altarpieces, clay, etc.
Three years ago,we began making items to sell at the Rosehedge/Multifaith Volunteer Appreciation Picnic in the summer and we sold enough to take a trip to the Quilt Museum in LaConner. Last year we sold enough to go to the Museum of Glass in Tacoma. This year we plan a day trip to the Zoo. Bring your pocket change, and maybe a small bill or two, to the Annual Rosehedge/Multifaith Picnic and take home a precious one of a kind treasure. Artworks from the Heart will once again be selling their creations at the picnic-this year's bargains will include: handmade jewelry and greeting cards, spirit house and birdhouses, mosaic bookmarks and plant holders, and a few other surprises. Come prepared to shop! It's never too early to purchase a holiday gift or two!
